Galway part 1

Kelly has pointed out that the photo of me with the cocktails was the last drink of the evening at Darkey Kelly's right next door to our hotel . Another bar, more live music and a final drink!
It promised more than it actually delivered.

Day 2
We had to pick up the car from the other end of town, so after breakfast we checked out and got a cab down to collect the car, a dark blue pergeot 308 not bad, lovely to drive.
We made our way through town, my trusty navigator struggling to work out the new gps, radio and all the other accessories whilst texting her father made for an interesting first part of the trip. How she did it all is beyond me but everything works now and we made it all the way to Galway by midday.

It was a blustery afternoon, and we couldn't get into our room till 4 so we set off to explore the city.
If you know Galway at all, will know that it's on the west coast of Ireland basically opposite Dublin. On the Atlantic Ocean it can be a wildly windy place, which is exactly what it was today. The river Corrib was literally hurling itself out into Galway bay, I fear if you fell in you would surely drown and never be found.
We wandered aroun the Spanish arch, there was a Christmas market being set up there. We strolled up into the walled city and found the claddagh shop and bought each other a ring. It's bad luck to buy your own.

We had a lateish lunch at a pizza place then purchased a few groceries and headed back to the b&b to check in as it was starting to get dark. The sun rises around 8-30 and sets around 4 so we need to get in as much as we can in the daylight hours.
Tomorrow we will head out to complete the Connemara loop but for now we are planning a quiet night in!
