Well for those of you who followed or escapades in Europe, and those who might be new to our blog, Suitcase and Sandshoes, we are off on our first foray into the America's! Starting gently with a 2 week stay on the iconic beach of Waikiki.
Our trip will begin on Monday and we hope to bring you great photos and commentary of our first impressions of this isle of happiness. For those of a similar age, I am expecting to see things that I have only seen through the screen of my tv. Think, the Brady bunch go to Hawaii, think happy days with the fonz jumping over the "killer" shark on skis, think jack lord in the original Hawaii 5 O. Quite fitting when I turned 5ohhhhh just last week.
We are indeed staying at an iconic hotel, the ilikai. This is the apartment building on Waikiki that was made famous in the opening credits of the original Hawaii 5 O as Steve Magarrets residence standing on his penthouse balcony.
We plan on driving around the island of Oahu in convertibles in convoy, yes we are 6 this trip 3 couples of around about the same vintage. Flying to the big island for a trip up a volcano (yay another to add to my list). Diamond head, maybe a hike, could be on my own there. Of course shopping with my shopaholic girlfriends, and anything else the island cares to throw at us.
So, tie on your grass skirts and coconut bras we are following the sun into the pacific.
