From Wales to Liverpool

Again, through or of the beautiful welsh country side, we travelled onto Liverpool. Whilst everyone knows this is wher the Beatles hailed from, I can tell you the city has much much more to it than that. The city does not back away fro the fat that it's early start, and subsequent wealth, stemmed from the slave trade. In fact, money was made not only from sending ships fro Liverpool to Africa to pick up slaves for the Americas, money was also made of the return cargos of cotton, of which mostly came through the city. As a result of their profits, the city possesses some of the most amazing period architecture. In fact, some 1,500 buildings are heritag listed. Considering many other magnificent buildings were destroyed during massive bombing raids during the 2nd World War, you can imagine own fine a city this place must hav been. The fact is, it is a magnificent city now.

Tunnel UNDER the Mersey!

Christ the king Catholic Cathedral you be the judge!

A very large gate to a very small china town - such promise :(

On the wheel

Having said all that, the Beatles and the famous Mersey beat cannot be ignored. Since Number Ones have been recorded, performers hailing from Liverpool have recorded 56 number one hits! Miles more than any other city. Incredible. Glen Miller also made his last recording in Liverpool, at Apple Studios, before dying in an aircrash as he flew towards France. The Beatles story,as everyone knows, is mind blowing. What are the chances of having these four guys all together at once? Anyway, we did the lot. Beatles tour, ferry cross the Mersey, walk around town, bus tour around town, walk through two cathedrals etc etc. you got to come to Liverpool!

Next up the lakes district, Glasgow and beyond.
