Republic of Ireland

Friday 4th July - Galway, Cliffs of Moher, Limerick, Millstreet, Ballyvourney

A little wet weather today, but only when we were driving! So lucky. We went down to Galway, and hopped on a Red Bus type tour of the city. Whilst every town seems to have its ancient castle, old historic churches and quaint little village type housing, as we crossed the city's river, we saw something you don't find in many cities. There was a guy standing in the middle of the causeway, dressed up in his oilskins and boots, fly fishing for salmon! Something different?

We then headed out from Galway to the magnificent Cliffs of Moher. These cliffs were straight drops of some two hundred metres, with lush green tops and overlooking the stunning Aran Islands. Have a look at the photos!!!

We were on our way again, travelling down through Ennis and Limmerick as we headed towards our accommodation, booked for the next three nights, at a place called Ballyvourney. The drive was great, but our Navman has a sense of humour. It sent us through some shortcuts that only a push bike should be on. But we found tractors, buses and villages all the way! Some of the villages were real 'one horse towns'. So em had never seen cars before! But we arrived safely....just to find 29 school kids, about 15 years old, hopping off their bus to sty at our same hotel...you beauty! They didn't disappoint. They were still running around hallways, slamming doors and yelling out to each other until about 2am...

Saturday 5th July - Killarney, Ross Castle, Dingle

Into Killarney this morning, looking for nail repairer for Cath and a laundrette. Found the laundrette...we then walked and drove around the town. We decided we wanted to see Ross Castle. Apparently a very pretty spot near the National Park. So we went to the Navman again, duly turned right where it told us. It didn't seem right, but we did ask a lady. She had no problems with us driving there...now picture a tourist driving his car inside the Botanical Gardens in Sydney...that was us in Killarney! We ended up driving behind a horse and carriage all the way to the castle. When we got there, we found a car park....on the other side of a locked gate. Oops. They were all very understanding in their typical Irish way. 'Twas just a wee accident to be sure!

Away we went again this time onto Dingle. We were told by the tourist information that this place was a nice little town on a pretty harbour. She said nothing about how beautiful the drive was both too and from, the township. If anyone goes to Ireland, this place is a must! Gorgeous, unbelievably gorgeous.

Looking back to Inch
