Spicy, intriguing, antique Istanbul

Wow, if you like to cook or just enjoy your food, and you are in Istanbul, the spice bazaar or as it is locally known Misir Carsisi is a must . The assault on all of your senses can be overwhelming at the start but sheer awe soon steps in. The colours, smells, tastes simply defy explaination.

Our first view and taste was the cheese aisle, first up feta, then the Turkish equivalent if mozzarella, the ropey looking one tasted divine.

Next up nuts, seeds, dried fruits and lollies.

Ahhhh the aroma of freshly ground spices

And of course there are the herbs you need one of these for!

I have so much more to share but it's 1am after a very long day, I will post more later.

Happy birthday James!
